Abstract

[Also in Division C3] Isocyanate-containing reaction products are obtained by reacting Schiff's bases of the formula wherein R 1 represents an n-functional alkyl or cycloalkyl radical which may be interrupted by one or more hetero atoms, or an aryl, aralkyl or heterocyclic radical all of which may be substituted; R 2 represents an alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or aryl radical which may be substituted or a group; R 3 and R 4 represent H or alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or aryl radicals; or R 2 and R 3 together form a 5- to 7-membered cycloaliphatic or heterocyclic ring which may be substituted and n is 1, 2 or 3 with the proviso that when R 2 is R 1 is C 6 H 11 , R 3 and R 4 are H and n is one, are reacted at temperatures of - 30‹ to 250‹ C. with polyisocyanates of the formula wherein R 5 represents an x-functional alkyl, cycloalkyl aralkyl or aryl group which may be substituted or which may be interrupted by one or more hetero atoms and x is 2 or 3. The process may be carried out batchwise or continuously with or without a solvent. Catalysts may be added to the reaction mixture. Examples are given for the production of the compounds.
