Abstract

1,209,848. Anti-dandruff shampoo. HANS SCHWARZKOPF. 14 Feb., 1968 [14 Feb., 1967], No. 7305/68. Heading A5B. [Also in Division C5] Hair shampoos contain as an anti-dandruff agent, 5,7-dichloro-8-hydroxy quinoline and/or a topically acceptable salt thereof, together with a cleansing agent. Suitable salts include alkali metal, alkaline earth metal (e.g. calcium) and heavy metal (e.g. bismuth) salts. The shampoos may contain a polyethylene oxide, an ethylene oxide addition product and/or methyl cellulose. The shampoos may contain other conventional excipients and may contain from 0.05 to 5.0% by weight of the anti-dandruff agent.
