Abstract

1,209,802. Emptying tanks. M. NANNI. 26 March, 1968 [28 March, 1967], No. 14407/68. Heading B8T. [Also in Division F1] An oil tank 10 has a line 12 for supplying oil to a burner, and a line 14 for returning heated excess oil from the burner. The lines 12, 14 are connected via flexible conduits 19, 33 with supply and return pipes 18, 28 respectively. A float 26 maintains inlet opening 24 near the oil surface and therefore away from contaminants within the tank. The discharge opening 30 of the return pipe is arranged adjacent the opening 24 so that oil drawn into the supply pipe is preheated by the returned excess oil. A bypass pipe 36 may be provided for direct flow of the returned heated excess oil into the supply pipe. A U-shaped member 20 pivoted at its base at 21 and slidably extending through collars 22, prevents the pipes 18, 28 from moving laterally into contact with the sidewalls of the tank.
