1,209,634. Antibiotic compositions; animal feeds. RECHERCHE ET. INDUSTRIE THERAPEUTIQUES.. 25 June, 1968 [29 June, 1967], No. 30153/67. Heading A5B. Antibiotic compositions, for use in animal feeds, wherein the antibiotic is in the form of a granulated product, comprise an antibiotic, a compatible mineral compound selected from silicon oxide and aluminium, calcium and magnesium oxides, carbonates and silicates, the mineral presenting a total specific surface of at least 5 sq. m. per gram, a water sorption potency of at least half its own weight and a water solubility of less than 1/500 w/w, the antibiotic and mineral being compacted by a binder, the granules presenting a diameter of at least 0.05 mm. and containing 0.1-70% of the antibiotic, 20-70% of mineral and 1-50% binder on a w/w basis. Examples of animal feeds are given. A number of antibiotics, including penicillins, tetracyclines, streptomycin and others, are specified.
