Abstract

1,208,561. Liquid dispensing apparatus. AVERY-HARDOLL Ltd. and BECK & CO. (METERS) Ltd. 5 July, 1967 [5 April, 1966], No. 15163/66 Heading A4T. Dispensing apparatus for selectively mixing two liquid fuels has the drives 20 from meters 12, 14 in the flow lines 8, 10 of each liquid connected together through gears 22 to an infinitely variable gearing 24. The variable gearing is altered when at rest at 28, or if it can only be altered while running, a subsidiary control 30 enables alteration while at rest. Mechanical connection 32 lead from gears 22 to adding differential 34 which drives indicator 38 showing the total quantity dispensed. The price for any mixture is also shown at 46, and connection 42 from control 28 operates indicator 44 showing the octane value of the fuel dispensed. Pressures across the two meters are balanced by a diaphragm regulator 26 actuating a valve downsteam of each meter. Separate price computing units may be driven from each meter. If petrol is to be pumped at 2 from only one of tanks 4, 6 one of the regulating valves may be closed by control 30 acting through a hydraulic or mechanical connection 48. The flows of petrol may be controlled by valves connected to the gearing via a subtracting differential having one input from one meter through a variator and the other input from an adding differential connected to both meters.
