[Also in Division C7] A solder for use in connecting thermocouple limbs to contact bridges in thermoelectric devices consists of Pd x (M y Si 1-y )1-x where M is Ti, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Mo, W, Fe, Co or Ni, and where 0 < y < 0À2 and 0À25 # x # 0À60. Specifically referred to are thermoelectric generators having thermocouple limbs made of Si-containing alloy (e.g. Ge 30 atom per cent- Si and/or FeSi 2 remainder, and doped with B, Ga or In for p-conductivity and P, As or Sb for n-conductivity) and contact bridges of composition M z Si 1 - z where M is Ti, Mf, V, Nb, Ta, Mo, W or Fe and O # z # 1: the solder component MySi 1-y preferably then has the same composition as the contact bridge.
