Abstract

1,207,521. Transistor oscillator circuits; keying oscillators. HONEYWELL Inc. 13 Sept., 1967, No. 38922/67. Headings H3T and H3R. [Also in Division G1] An oscillator comprises a mismatched distributed resistance/capacitance phase shift element 23, Fig. 2, and a coupling element connected between the output and input of an amplifier formed by transistors 20 and 21. In Fig. 2 part of the feedback circuit is shunted by a variable capacitance, shown as a transistor 30 the capacitance of which depends on the voltage at terminal 29, and it is shown that the phase shift is 0 degrees or - 180 degrees according to whether the ratio of the capacitances is more or less 17À7, and the circuit oscillates or not accordingly. The circuit may be constructed as an integrated circuit, Fig. 4 (not shown). In a modified circuit, Fig. 3 (not shown), the collector of transistor 21 is connected to a separate tapping on element 23 from that connected to transistor 30. The change of phase shift may be produced by a variable resistance connected to the capacitive terminal of the phase shift element, Fig. 5 (not shown). In another arrangement, Fig. 7, the RC line 123 is formed of semi-conductive material exhibiting a piezo-resistive effect so that the circuit oscillates continuously at a frequency dependent on pressure.
