Abstract

1,207,477. Preparing plasma proteins. TSENTRALNY ORDENA LENINA INSTITUT GEMATOLOGII I PERELIVANIA KROVI. 29 April, 1969, No. 21714/69. Heading A5B. A method of preparing a stable solution of albumin and α- and #-globulin comprises fractionating a plasma or serum containing haemopigments to isolate a fraction containing albumin and α- and #-globulins, adding hydrogen peroxide to said fraction at a temperature not greater than 70‹C., maintaining the treated fraction at a temperature of not greater than 70‹C., to denature thermolabile globulins and haemopigments, and subsequently removing the denatured thermolabile globulins and haemopigments from the treated solution. To obtain the starting material, alcohol may be added to serum or plasma to a concentration of 8% and the precipitate which forms is discarded; the alcohol concentration is then raised to 25% to precipitate gamma-globulin which is removed; the solution is acidified to pH 6 and a further precipitate removed; then the alcohol content is raised to 40%, the pH adjusted to .4.8, and the desired fraction is precipitated. The material is redissolved and may be treated with from 0.01 to 0.1% of hydrogen peroxide.
