Abstract

1,207,374. Clamps. ELECTROVERT Ltd. 1 March, 1968 [1 June, 1967], No. 43869/67. Heading E2B. A fastener, e.g. for a number of insulated conductors, Fig. 4 (not shown), comprises a flat flexible tongue 15 e.g. of synthtetic plastics, a frame 20 integral with one end of the tongue and defining a rectangular opening 25, the other end of the tongue being insertable through the opening, and at least one inclined metallic pawl projecting from the frame into the opening and being adapted for biting into a side edge 17 of the tongue to resist withdrawal of the tongue from the opening. As shown, two pawls 35 are mounted in recesses 30 formed in opposite walls 24 of the frame. The other two frame walls 22 and 23 extend further than walls 24 in the direction of tongue insertion and terminate in surfaces 27. The free ends of the pawls are spaced inwardly of these surfaces 27 so that, when fastened, the tongue may be severed just beyond the pawls to leave no part of the tongue projecting beyond surfaces 27. The flexing of the pawls in response to tension in the tongue is limited by inclined walls 32 of the recesses 30. The tongue may be formed with projections 12 to facilitate gripping of the tongue. In a modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), the outer surface of frame wall 23 is formed with a dove-tailed recess for accommodating an identification tag.
