Abstract

120,731. Motorkultur Akt.-Ges. July 3, 1917, [Convention date]. Potato - diggers; mowing - machines; haymaking.-A self-propelled implement for mowing, haymaking, potato-digging, cultivating, grinding, &c., comprises a motor body in the form of a casing for the driving-gear and interchangeable tools adapted to be connected easily to the motor body and to the driving-shaft enclosed therein. Fig. 1 shows the motor body 1 mounted on wheels 2 and provided with guiding handles 12. The shaft 5, through which the motor 3 drives the propelling-gear 4, extends forwards and rearwards outside the body 1 and is squared at each end 6 to fit into a corresponding socket 11 on the shaft 10 of a potato-digger 8 or other tool. The shaft 10 is enclosed in a casing 8' adapted to be fastened on a faced surface 7 by screws 9. The tool 8 is raised or lowered by means of the handles 12. Mowing- apparatus may be attached to the front face 7, the crank shaft for driving the cutter being coupled to the shaft 5. In the form shown in Fig. 5, the casing 23 of a rotary cultivator, or other tool, is bolted to a hollow arm 20 universally jointed to the motor body 1 and adapted to be raised or lowered, from the driver's seat 26, by a rope and winding gear 27, 28. An extension of the shaft 5 is jointed to it at 19, and one or two front steering wheels are provided. Mowing-apparatus is provided with rear supporting wheels. Fig. 7 shows alternative means for coupling the parts 20, 23 together. An eye 32 on a flange 33 passes through a slot in the flange 30 and is secured by a pin or bolt 34. Side projections 36 on the flange 30 carry an eccentric pin 37 surrounded by a sleeve and adapted to be turned by a handle so as to press the two flanges together. Fig. 8 shows alternative means for connecting the shafts 5, 24, Fig. 5, together. Pins 41 project from a disk 40 on one shaft into notches 42 in a disk 43 on the other. The casing forms a bearing for the disks and prevents them from separating.
