Abstract
1,207,174. Photo-electric measuring apparatus. CENTRE NATIONAL DE LA RECHERCHE SCIENTIFIQUE. Sept. 21, 1967 [Sept.21, 1966; April 13, 1967], No.13632/70, Divided out of 1,207,173. Heading G1A. The measurement of any change in the length of an optical path between a light source 601 and an image thereof is carried out by the use of a rotating slotted disc 604 carrying on its front surface transparent members of known thickness 605, whereby the image is produced alternately in two positions, one in front of and the other behind the plane of the apertured disc and a photodetector detecting light passing therethrough. When the images are equally spaced in front of and behind the plane of the disc, equal intensities are received and any amplitude modulation superimposed on the chopper frequency in the detector output is thus indicative of a change in the optical path. The apparatus can be modified for detecting displacements of reflective surfaces, Figs.3, 4 (not shown) and used in the applications referred to in Specification 1, 207,173.
