Abstract
1,206,869. Steering aircraft nose wheels. MESSERSCHMITT - BOLKOW - BLOHM G.m.b.H. 21 Oct., 1968 [25 April, 1968], No. 49738/68. Heading B7H. In nose wheel steering mechanism comprising an hydraulic actuator 11 connected to the nose wheel 16 and controlled by a valve 10 which is connected to a control device 1 through resilient input means 2 and responds to a mechanical feedback of the actuator movement, a doubleacting damping piston 22 is connected to the valve 10 to damp high frequency induced vibrations transmitted from the nose wheel 16 to the valve 10, and the resilient input means 2 are so connected to the means connecting the actuator 11 to the nose wheel 16 as to absorb such vibrations. The damping piston 22 has a passage 23 extending therethrough and slides in a cylinder 21 having a connection 24 to a return line from the valve 10. The nose wheel support 15 is connected by a link 14 and lever 6 to the actuator 11. The resilient input means 2 are connected by a rod 3 to a control arm 4 which is pivoted on the lever 6 and connected by a link 7 and lever 8 to the valve 10. Damping restrictions 27 are provided between the valve 10 and the actuator 11.
