[Also in Divisions H1 and H3] Experimental apparatus for electronic and radio circuits comprises an elongated chassis member divided into two areas by a switchboard mounted on the chassis member at right angles thereto, components to be tested being mounted on one area and the other area including control elements. The chassis member 1 of plastic material is provided on one half with a mounting plate 3 having longitudinally extending parallel grooves 25 subdivided into square recesses by cross walls, Fig. 3 (not shown), into which recesses components and assemblies are inserted. Feet 35 support the plate 3 and they may be provided with a threaded hole carrying a ferrite screw core for a tuneable H.F. core. A slanting control desk 6 is mounted as shown and carries rotary control knobs 7, control member 9 and loud-speaker 30 mounted releasably on section 31, recesses being provided on this section for switches and control elements for the regulation of the loud-speaker or twoway speaking station. The portion 31 may be covered by a housing, Fig. 4 (not shown), which acts as an electrical screen. The chassis is divided into the areas 3, 6 by a backwardly inclined L-shaped switch board 10 which is removably secured to a trapezoidal cross-section carrier 11 and carries switches 13, a rotary selector or potentiometer 14, a sensor 15, loudspeaker 27 and lamp sockets 16. Components may be mounted on a mounting board moulded from plastics Fig. 6. On the underside of the cover 61 there is provided a plug pin 62 which fits into the grooves 25 of mounting plate 3. Holes 63, 64 are for mounting resistors, condensers and a trimmer knob, Fig. 10 (not shown), which may be mounted on a screw tapped in hole 65 passing through plug 62. Larger mounting boards provided with two plugs for insertion in the grooves 25 may be used, Fig. 7 (not shown), for mounting large condensers and transformer coils. A small transistor may be mounted in an injection moulded pin which fits into a mounting board.
