Connecting uppers to insoles and soles. -In the manufacture of turnshoes, an upper 1, Fig. 2, is secured by stitches 7 to and within the marginal edge 4 of an outer sole 2, so that, when turned, the edge 4 forms an inturned flange, Fig. 3, to house an insole 3. The upper is then crimped down, as shown in Fig. 4, and secured to the outer sole by stitches 8 passing through both the flange 4 and the insole.
