Abstract
1,205,013. Electric motors. SMITHS INDUSTRIES Ltd. 27 Sept., 1967 [27 Sept., 1966], No. 43139/66. Heading H2A. The permanent-magnet rotor 12 of an electric motor is rotated by the field of coreless stator coils 20 wound round the motor casing. This casing is formed of two identical plastic parts 10 which fit together to enclose the rotor and which are provided with rotor spindle bearings 16. Each casing part has a central flange embodying the bolt holes 23, 24, and two side flanges 18 providing two channels 19 for the field coils 20. A printed-circuit board 32 secured by a screw 31 carries a capacitor 33 and transistor 41 interconnected to the field coils 20 and a trigger coil 38 wound in one of the channels 19, in conventional manner. Each field coil may have a separate transistor and trigger coil so that they may operate alternately (Fig. 9, not shown).
