Abstract

1,204,864. Boring earth &c. ATLAS COPCO A.B. 5 Dec., 1967 [20 Dec., 1966], No. 55215/67. Heading E1F. A feed for a drive 17 (rotary) for the drill string (not shown) comprises a cylinder 48 supported by a guide frame 16 (a drilling rig mast), piston rods 49a, 49b extending from each end of the cylinder, pulleys 47a, 47b carried by the free ends of the piston rods, and a flexible member (a chain) running over the pulleys. The ends of the chain pass over pulleys 47c, 47d and are fixed to the free ends of the piston rods. In a modification the pulleys 47c, 47d are dispensed with and the ends of the chain are fixed at the position of these pulleys.
