Abstract

1,204,323. Coated TiO 2 pigments. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 3 Nov., 1967 [21 Nov., 1966], No. 52023/66. Heading ClN. [Also in Division C3] Titanium dioxide pigments may be coated with organo-silicon compounds by milling or refluxing with an organic solvent. In examples anatase titanium dioxide is coated with (1) octamethyl-cyclotetrasiloxane by milling with glass beads, for 2 hours, and with (2) octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane and (3) dimethylchlorosilane by refluxing with xylene, for 2 hours, filtering and drying in vacuo at 50‹ C.
