Abstract

[Also in Division B3] In a process of manufacturing a finned tubular heat exchange element a metal sheet has placed thereon a pattern of weld-inhibiting material to define the paths of conduits 20, 21 and edge portions, and bonding thereto, as by hot or cold rolling, a second metal sheet at portions 22, 23, 24, the conduits being formed by inflation and the edge portions being bent or rotated to form longitudinal heat exchange fins. The fins may be serrated as shown to form desired configurations 35a, 35b, 35c, 35d and 36a, 36b, 36c, 36d and bent or rotated as in Figs. 5 to 8. The elements may comprise any desired number of conduits and the length of the elements may be bent into a spiral or figure eight form.
