Abstract

1,203,053. Mechanical switches. ULTRA ELECTRONICS Ltd. 2 Aug., 1968 [22 May, 1967], No. 23645/67. Heading H1N. A miniature rotary switch comprises a brass housing 1 journalling a shaft 3 on the splined end of which is mounted a disc 12 of plastics material carrying beryllium copper contacts 11 connecting a cylindrical contact 10 to selected contacts formed by the inner ends of terminals 8 moulded in a block 2 which is retained by a rolled-over flange 17 of housing 1. Integral with disc 12 is a resilent flange 13 urging ball detents 14 into locating notches in a member 15. A peg 21 may co-operate with a stop on member 15 to limit rotation of shaft 3. The contact 10 may be split into two semi-cylindrical contacts (Fig. 2, not shown) or may be a complete " slip-ring," in which case only one contact 11 may be provided (Fig. 3, not shown). If non- magnetic balls 14 are used the whole switch is of non-magnetic material.
