1,202,537. Powder metallurgy. UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. March 22, 1968 [March 29, 1967], No.14408/67. Heading C7D. An organic plasticizer such as an alginate solution, cellulose derivative or a polymeric resin is removed from a mixture of the plasticizer and a metallic and/or refractory powder by heating e.g. at 900-1200‹C. in an atmosphere of moist hydrogen containing not more than 80 parts hydrogen for each part by weight of water. Fibres of Si3N4, SiO2, Al2O3 or W may be added to the metal powder e.g. Ni or Ag. An example relates to the extrusion of a Ni, ammonium alginate mix to form a tape which is cut into pieces, heated to remove alginate and the stacked pieces were hot pressed.
