1,202,283. Tyre treads. DUNLOP CO. Ltd. 26 Sept., 1967 [28 Sept., 1966], No. 43642/67. Heading B7C. A tyre tread comprises ribs, e.g. la . . Ic, extending at an angle to the mid-circumferential plane U-U and formed with edges, e.g. 6 . . . 9 extending at an opposite angle y to said plane to counteract the assymmetrical running effects due to the ribs. The ribs are separated by grooves, e.g. 2a ... 2c and the edges may be formed by slots, e.g. 3a ... 3f extending partway across the ribs, or 3g extending between adjacent grooves. The edges may be supplemented by slots 19 or 20 cut in the ribs. In an alternative arrangement the edges are formed by projections on the ribs. The axially outermost edges of the ribs are parallel to the mid-circumferential plane.
