Abstract
1,201,358. α - Halogen - # - acylamino carboxylic acids. DEUTSCHES HYDRIERWERK RODLEBEN VEB. 4 April, 1968 [29 Nov., 1967], No. 54411/67. Heading C2C. α - Halogen - # - acylaminocarboxylic acids of the general formula wherein R-CO- signifies an acyl group, Hala halogen atom and n a whole number, are obtained by a process characterized in that each mol. of #-acyl aminocarboxylic acids or their halides or esters is reacted in the form of a sludge at temperatures up to 60 C., with 0À5 to 3 mols. of a sulphuric acid halide, mechanically mixed, and heated to 60 to 120 C., the heating to 60 C. being effected in the absence of applied pressure at the rate of 1 to 5 C./min., and in the range 60 to 80 C. at the rate of 0À01 to 3 C./min., elementary halogen is introduced subsequent to the conversion with sulphuric acid halide and without the addition of halogenation catalysts and organic solvents, until the desired halogen content is reached, and the intermediate product so obtained is added into water of temperatures of 12 to 100 C., preferably from 45 to 85 C., and is agitated until the organic substance solidifies.
