Abstract

1,201,076. Racks. INTERLAKE STEEL CORP. 9 Oct., 1967, No. 46039/67. Heading A4B. In a pallet rack an L-section end plate 4, welded to a beam 2, has two rearwardlyprojecting studs 5 for engagement in keyhole apertures 3a or 3b in an upright to connect the beam to either side of the upright, the studs being spaced at a distance equal to the distance between every third keyhole 3a or 3b and the end plate being reversible. A detachable locking arm 7 consisting of a spring metal strip has a headed pin 8 and a pin 9 which engage, respectively, in narrow portion 6b and enlarged portion 6a of keyhole aperture 6 in the end plate, the pin 9 also engaging in the enlargement of the intermediate aperture 3a or 3b. The locking arm is also reversible but can be assembled properly in only one position relatively to the end plate and when improperly assembled projects due to non-alignment of the pin 9 with the enlargement of a keyhole aperture 3a or 3b so that visual warning is given that the beam is not locked to the upright. In modifications, the upright has a single row of apertures each of which has a wider upper end positioned vertically above a narrower lower end, or the headed studs are spaced from each other at a distance equal to the distance between every fourth keyhole aperture so that the locking arm is reversible and properly lockable in both positions. The beam may be a cantilevertype support secured to an upright at only one end.
