Abstract

1,201,006. L-Asparaginase. KYOWA HAKKO KOGYO CO. Ltd. 4 Feb., 1969 [15 Feb., 1968], No. 5928/69. Heading C3H. A process for producing an L-asparaginase enzymatic preparation with anti - tumour activity comprises culturing an L-asparaginaseproducing micro-organism of the genus Serratia under aerobic conditions, the aeration being limited to that sufficient for the growth of the micro-organism, in an aqueous nutrient medium containing 1% by weight or less of carbohydrate, accumulating cells containing L-asparaginase in the resultant culture liquor, and isolating and recovering an asparaginase preparation therefrom. The organism may be S. marcescens. Extraction of the enzyme is conventional.
