Abstract

1,200,875. Mobile gantry cranes. B. E. WALLACE PRODUCTS CORP. 31 March, 1969 [15 Aug., 1968], No. 16680/69. Heading B8B. A gantry has an I-beam 10 with a pair of legs 11, 12 at each end on spaced pivots 13, 14 and a leg brace 15, 18 for each leg 11, 12 connected to the leg and pivoted to the beam 10 by a leg brace pivot 16, 19 in the axis of the pivot 13, 14 of the adjacent leg 11, 12. Each of the leg brace pivots 16, 19 has a pivot-pin 28 mounted for rotation on the beam 10 with a turned extension 29 receiving the leg brace 15, 18 and a spring 32 engaging the pin 28 exerting resilient stabilizing forces on the beam 10. As shown, a coil spring 32 is used, but springs of other forms may be employed, Figs. 5, 7 (not shown).
