Abstract

1,200,723. Fibrous pitch and plastics composition. COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd. 13 Oct., 1967 [18 Oct., 1966], No. 46544/66. Addition to 1,011,481. Headings C3N and C3P. A moulding composition comprises (a) 10- 30 wt. per cent coal tar pitch; (b) fibre reinforced compatible thermoplastic material divided so as to pass a 1/2-1/16 inch B.S. sieve; (c) 0À2-0À7 wt. per cent stabilizer; and (d) a filler. Also present may be (e) 1-2 wt. per cent lubricant, e.g. stearic acid or stearates of Pb, Ca, or Ba; (f) 1-3 wt. per cent elastomer, e.g. styrenebutadiene or nitrile rubber. (b) may be scrap conveyer belting of P.V.C. reinforced with natural or synthetic fibres. The weight of (b) may be that of (a). (c) may be white lead, PbSO 4 , Ca stearate, or dibutyl tin dilaurate. There may be 15-70 wt. per cent (d), e.g. fly ash, whiting, clay, or stone dust.
