Abstract
120,045. Moritz, R. May 15, 1917, [Convention date]. Drawings to Specification. Hydrogen peroxide is produced by hydrogenating a tube, ribbon, or wire of palladium or a palladium alloy and then acting with it upon a solution of oxygen in water or weak hydrogen peroxide. The process may be carried out by passing an endless palladium ribbon or wire through an atmosphere of hydrogen and then through a tube lined with ebonite and containing a solution of oxygen; or by passing hydrogen through a palladium tube immersed in an oxygen solution in an iron tube lined with ebonite; or electrolytically by passing a stream of acidulated water saturated with oxygen over a cathode of palladium or palladium alloy and an anode of platinum, gold, fused iron oxide, graphite, &c., with or without a diaphragm, preferably in an horizontal iron tube lined with ebonite, tin, silver, rubber, &c. In all cases, the hydrogen may be 'replaced by mixtures such as water-gas and the hydrogen and oxygen or air may be under pressure.
