Abstract
1,199,726. Flexible rods; and couplings therefor. SUNDT PLASTICS Ltd. 1 Nov., 1967 [18 Oct., 1966], No. 46605/66. Headings F2G and F2N. Rods, adapted to be connected to each other to form a drain cleaning, chimney-sweeping, or the like, composite rod, are each in the form of a hollow tube 1 made from a plastics such as polyethylene, and have a male or female fitting at each end, the fittings, made of metal, nylon, acetyl resin, or other plastics material, being secured to the rod, by rivets 4, sonic welding, or adhesives. The tube is extruded and has a thickness of approximately # inch, the interior surface of the tube being preferably provided with strengthening webs which extend over the whole length of the tube. The rods are adaptable to standard diameter end fittings.
