Abstract

1,199,271. Coating an outsole with adhesive. BRITISH UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CO. Ltd. 11 Aug., 1967 [12 Aug., 1966; 22 June, 1967]; Nos. 36105/66 and 28767/67. Heading B2K. A method of applying adhesive to an outsole comprises heating a surface of the outsole, passing it through a vertical screen of finely divided adhesive particles dispensed from a vibratory hopper and then fusing the particles by heating. The adhesive imay comprise a thermoplastic polyester, such as a copolyester of terephthalic, isophthalic and azelaic acids with 1, 4-butane diol. The composition may be supplied to the hopper using a fluidizing means. An exemplified outsole was made of plasticized polyvinyl chloride.
