A fitting for a tubular discharge lamp 11 comprises an elongated support member 14 and a pair of lamp holders 12, 13 depending from opposite ends of the support member, a control inductor L1, L2 being mounted within one or both of the lamp holders. A capacitor C1, C2 may also be mounted in one or both of the holders.
