Abstract

1,197,122. Decarbonisation of catalysts. PAN AMERICAN PETROLEUM CORP. 4 March, 1968 [8 March, 1967], No. 10481/68. Heading B1E. A method of regenerating a catalyst not susceptible to contamination by iron used in the formation of free sulphur from H,S containing a hydrocarbon contaminant during the course of which formation free carbon is deposited on the surface of the catalyst to render the latter less active, is characterised in that the carbon fouled catalyst is contacted with S0 2 at 700-1000‹F. Apparatus (not shown) is described in the use of a catalyst for sweetening alkylamines.
