Abstract

1,196,927. Corona charging apparatus. RANK XEROX Ltd. Oct.4, 1967 [Oct.11, 1966], No. 45222/67. Heading G2H. A corona charging apparatus has one or more corona wires 48 secured at one end to insulating blocks 52 secured between side walls 44, 46 of a U-shaped shield and at the opposite end to longitundinally slidable insulating blocks 60 urged outwardly by springs 70 which maintain constant tension in the wires 48 during expansion and contraction of the wires. The apparatus may be used for charging sheet material (12) Fig. 1 (not shown) during passage around a drum (20) which conveys the material past an infrared fixing apparatus (32).
