Abstract

1,196,364. Pianos. NIPPON GAKKI SEIZO K.K. 3 April, 1968 [7 April, 1967; 8 May, 1967], No. 16097/68. Heading G5J. In a grand piano action support-rail assembly a wooden regulating rail 19 (Fig. 2), with a plurality of regulating buttons B is connected to an L-shaped metal hammer flange rail 13 in such a way as to allow for a slight lengthwise expansion of the wooden rail relative to the metal rail. The connection may be by means of a screw 21 with a spring washer 22 and a loosely surrounding collar 23 or by means of an elastic adhesive (Fig. 3). The hammer flange rail 13b, Fig. 5, has an upper platform 24 with a rectangular groove 25 containing an elastic member 27, the elastic member having a V- shaped slit containing a guide wire 28. A sand paper friction sheet 29 is also provided. Parallel grooves 33 are formed in the outer surface of the hammer flange rail. In another modification the hammer flange rail (13c, Fig. 6) has a protrusion (28a) instead of the guide wire 28, Fig. 5. The hammer flange rail is connected to brackets (11c) by means of screws (31, 32). The hammer flange rail may be of aluminium and a suitable elastic adhesive when used is one with a synthetic rubber base such as styrenebutadiene-rubber dissolved in a ketone.
