Abstract
1,196,046. Mattresses; beds. FRANCE BED CO. Ltd. 28 July, 1967 [30 July, 1966; 6 Dec., 1966; 20 July, 1967], No. 34801/67. Headings A4M and A4J. A bed comprises a mattress 34 (Fig. 1) or 37 (Fig. 5) which fits into a rectangular cavity in a bed frame such that the upper surface of the mattress is higher than outwardly extending ledge surfaces 33 of the frame at the sides and foot of the bed, the frame comprising a reinforcing member with a covering of cushioning material. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, the frame comprises foam rubber or plastics with an embedded reinforcing member. In another embodiment, Figs. 5, 6, the frame is formed by separate upper and lower parts 36, 39 of which the upper part 36 comprises a hollow, metal reinforcing member 42 with a covering 43 of foam rubber or plastics. The upper part 36 is formed by separable sections.
