Abstract

1,195,658. Purifying gases. H. E. BENSON, J. H. FIELD, and W. M. EPES. 28 Nov., 1968 [7 Dec., 1967], No. 56596/68. Addition to 1,084,526. Heading C5E. [Also in Division C1] The process claimed in Specification 1,084,526 is modified by feeding to the top of the absorber a minor portion of the regenerated solution which has been cooled to a temperature which is more than 40‹ C. below the temperature of the hot solution leaving the regenerator, and which is in the range 50‹ to 90‹ C. at the top of the absorber. The rest of the solution is led into the absorber at an intermediate level. The minor portion may be more completely regenerated than the rest of the solution (see Fig. 1, not shown), in which the rest of the solution traverses part only of the regenerator, or all the solution may traverse the regenerator before being divided (see Fig. 2, not shown). The solution leaving the regenerator is at a temperature in the range 105‹ to 140‹ C.
