Abstract

1,195,653. Cavity resonators. MOTOROLA Inc. 21 Aug., 1968 [15 Sept., 1967], No. 39966/68. Heading H1W. A cavity resonator having both a resonant frequency and a rejection frequency is formed by inner and outer coaxial cylinders, and is provided with first and second coupling elements located at a pair of points on the outer cylinder and positioned within the cavity, the pair of points being so located that the lines joining them to the axis define an angle less than or equal to 90 degrees; this angle, which is adjustable, determines the rejection frequency, which may therefore be arranged to increase the attenuation of frequencies close to the resonant frequency. As shown, Fig. 1, the outer conductor 10 and the inner conductor 16, the length of which may be adjusted by a plunger 19 to vary the resonant frequency, form a resonant line shunted by the tap closure 13. The input and output couplings 61 and 63, Fig. 6, may be loops or (Fig. 7, not shown) probes, and pivotal mountings are described (Figs. 11 to 13, not shown) whereby they may be adjusted and clamped at different angles with respect to one another.
