Abstract
1,195,469. Polyurethane compositions. P.B.U. (PROGIL-BAYER-UGINE). 17 May, 1968 [26 May, 1967], No. 23742/68. Headings C3N and C3R. [Also in Division B2] Polyurethane compositions comprise a polyurethane, which has been obtained in the absence of a cross-linking agent, containing free isocyanate groups and a pulverulent filler having a particle size of at least 0.05 mm. The polyurethane is suitably prepared by reacting a linear polyether or polyester containing hy. droxyl groups and an organic polyisocyanate so that the NCO/OH ratio is at least 1À05: 1. Preferred fillers are clay, silica, quartz, mica, sand, corundum, carborundum, silicon carbide, polyamide or rubber powder and are present in amounts of at least one part by weight of filler per part by weight of polyurethane. The partide size of the filler is preferably between 0.05 and 3 mm. The compositions may also contain solvents, e.g. acetone, trichloroethylene, MEK or ethyl acetate; accelerating agents, e.g. tertiary amines, organo-metallic derivatives or metal salts of organic acids; pigments, e.g. iron oxide, chromium oxide or lead chromate; or flameproofing agents, e.g. a mixture of antimony oxide and decachlorodiphenyl. The compositions may be used as foundry mould forming compositions, coating compositions or moulding compositions.
