Abstract

119,379. British Thomson - Houston Co., (General Electric Co.). Jan. 23, 1918. Regulating or controlling. - A number of compressors operating in parallel and each driven by its own motor, which is regulated by means responsive to the load on the corresponding compressor, are provided with means responsive to an operating condition common to all the compressors for simultaneously modifying the regulating means for each comopressor. The Figure shows two compressors 5, 6, driven by turbines 7, 8, the inlet valves 30 of which are each controlled by a counterbalanced lever 17 connected to a float 20 in the inlet conduit 11 to the compressor. A speed governor control is combined with this constant volume governor, which may be adjusted for different volumes by variations of the position of the weights 18. In the apparatus shown, the position of the weights 18 is determined by the pressure in the header 9 from which both compressors draw gas, acting through the counterbalanced float 34 and the shaft 14.
