1,192,716. Machinery guards; clutch control. DANSK PRESSEFABRIK A.S. 24 Feb., 1969 [1 March, 1968], No. 9789/69. Headings F2J and F2L. Overrunning of the drive shaft 2 of a power press operated by a fluid-pressure clutch-brake unit is prevented by a friction stop 10, the initial movement of which is arranged to open a relief valve 24 to cut off the pressure supply to the clutch. The main supply pipe 27 is conneccted by pipes 25, 28 to the clutch and brake units, and a further pipe 29 connects with a piston-cylinder unit 17, 18 controlling a pivoted latch 19 engageable with a pin 20 on stop member 10. The latter is pivoted by a pin 11 on a slide 13 secured to a fixed frame by bolts 15 passing through slots 14 in the slide. During normal operation the parts occupy the positions shown when shaft 2 comes to rest, but if it overruns a projection 8 engages the nose 9 of stop 10 which moves against the resistance of bolts 15, a wedge cam 22, 23 operating to open relief valve 24 to immediately disengage the clutch and apply brake 4. A large bolt 16 serves as an end stop. An electric switch 30 must be closed by stop 10 being restored to its correct setting by loading springs 12 before an operating cycle can be initiated.
