Abstract

1,191,826. Change speed control. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT, and SOC. INDUSTRIELLE ET COMMERCIALE DES AUTOMOBILES PEUGEOT. 8 Sept., 1967 [21 Oct., 1966], No. 41221/67. Heading F2D. [Also in Division F1] Hydraulic servos 29, 32 for ratio establishing clutches or brakes are controlled by a distributing valve 3 having differential lands 4, 5 in chambers 8, 9 permanently connected to a pump 12, the chamber 9 being supplied through a restriction 14 and having two or more exhaust ducts 15, 16 controlled by solenoid operated pilot valves 17, 18. When both solenoids are energized the valves 17, 18 close the exhaust ducts 15, 16 and the valve spool 3 is shifted left to the position shown in which it vents both servo's 29, 32 at 33, 34. When the solenoid of the valve 18 is energized to close the exhaust duct 16 whilst the valve 17 opens the exhaust duct 15 the valve spool 3 moves right until it partially blocks the exhaust duct 15 and the forces on the spool 3 are balanced, in which position the servo 32 is supplied with pressure liquid from the pump 12 through duct 27 whilst the servo 29 is vented at 33. When the solenoid of the valve 17 is alone energized to close the exhaust duct 15 whilst the duct 16 is open, the valve spool 3 moves further right until it partially blocks the exhaust duct 16 and the forces on the spool 3 are balanced, in which position the servo 29 is supplied with pressure liquid whilst the servo 32 is vented. The solenoid operated valves 17, 18 may be of the type described in Specification 1,114,555.
