Abstract
1,191,825. Telescope mountings. CARL ZEISS JENA VEB. Aug.22, 1967, No. 38678/67. Heading G2J. In a mounting for telescopes or cameras for tracking rapidly moving celestial bodies, the telescope 1 is mounted for rotation about axes UU, and VV on a carrier 3 which tilts about horizontal pivot axis XX between two brackets 4, 5 fast with a plate 6 which is itself rotatable about vertical axis YY, the plate 6 being raised from a locked position to a rotatable position about axis YY relative to base 7 by means of a lever attached to bracket 5, Plate (6) rests on an upper flange of base (7) in the locked position, Fig. 2 (not shown), and is raised, by means of a toggle joint (27) operated through a bell-crank system by lever (23), until rollers (19, 20) beneath plate (6) engage the underside of the flange. Lever (23) is then used to manually rotate the mounting on plate (6). Bush (10) beneath plate (6) slides over a vertical post (13) to guide the plate during its movement.
