Abstract

1,191,813. Wet-presses for paper. R. HUEBER. 13 Feb., 1969 [13 Feb., 1968], No. 7819/ 69. Heading D2A. [Also in Division F2] A suction roller for paper making machines consists of a metal core I surrounded by a layer 2 of hard rubber formed with longitudinal slots 3 for the reception of rectangular ducts 4 connected to a common vacuum source and communicating with radial passages 7 opening into short longitudinal slots 8 in the surface of a soft rubber outer sheath 6. The tubular ducts 4 are coated with unvulcanised hard rubber and after assembly of the components the complete unit is vulcanised, the passages 7 and slots 8 then being drilled and cut.
