1,191,752. Terephthalic acid. RHONEPOULENC S.A. 18 Jan., 1968 [19 Jan., 1967; 14 Sept., 1967], No. 2859/68. Heading C2C. Terephthalic acid is produced by treating an aqueous lithium or magnesium terephthalate solution with carbon dioxide under pressure at a temperature between the solidification temperature of the solution and 80‹ C. and separating the terephthalic acid which precipitates.
