Abstract

1,190,806. Rotary elevator for needles. NEEDLE INDUSTRIES Ltd. 16 Sept., 1968 [16 June, 1967], No. 27959/67. Heading B8A. [Also in Division G4] Individual needles are fed to grooves 34 of a rotary elevator from a magazine 35, the conveyer carrying them past a sensing station 32 where incorrectly sized needles are detected and a rubber wheel 53 operated to eject faulty needles laterally from the conveyer, correctly sized needles being deposited under gravity at an unloading station 55. A wheel 38 with magnets 39 rotates simultaneously with the rotary conveyer but about a laterally displaced axis 41 so that a groove 44 between opposing magnetic poles coincides with a groove 34 at the sensing station 32. The magnetic field set up ensures that the needle is corerotly orientated for sensing, guides correctly positioning the needles longitudinally.
