Abstract

1,190,773. Pipe connectors. BROCKEN SERVICES Ltd. 25 Aug., 1967 [25 Aug., 1966], No. 38265/66. Heading F2G. A tubular connector for connecting the outlet 23 of a pan to a soil pipe 14 comprises a section 11 adapted to be mounted on the pipe and having flexible annular fins or serrations 19 to form a seal with the pipe, and a section 12 which is non-integral with and adapted to be sealingly secured to the section 11 and which is adapted to be attached to and form a seal with the pan outlet 23, one of the sections having an axially facing surface 11a to abut a surface of the pipe which faces towards the pan outlet. As shown, the section 11, Fig. 1, has a skirt 15 formed with internal serrations 19 and a boss 17 provided with a conical, serrated surface 18 which mates with the surface 24 of the section 12; a sealing or bonding compound may be provided between these surfaces. The section 12 has an externally serrated frusto-conical section 21 which seals against the outlet 23. Metal reinforcing rings may be incorporated behind the surfaces 18, 24 and the sections may be screwed together. In modifications, (a) the section (31), Fig. 2 (not shown), fits within the pipe 14, when the section 12 may also fit within a socket on the pipe; (b) the sections (42), (43), Fig. 4 (not shown), have mating ridges and grooves (44) which are snapped together and held mated by a collar (46) fitted into a groove (45) in the section (42) and the section (43) may have external, annular fins and fit within the pipe 14; (c) the section 62, Fig. 6, includes a sleeve 64 formed with annular fins 65a and a rim portion 67, the section 63 having a frusto-conical part 72 and concentric grooves 73, 74 which receive the rim 67 and body part 66 of the section 62; and (d) the section 63, Fig. 6, is replaced by a number of apertured sealing members (98), Fig. 7 (not shown), formed with mating outer annular portions (99) which are held in register by a ring member (93) screwed on to the rim (88) of the section (82).
