Abstract

1,190,577. Stripping compositions. TAK CHEMICALS Ltd. 20 July, 1967 [10 Aug., 1966; 9 Sept., 1966], Nos. 35723/66 and 40451/66. Heading C5D. [Also in Division C7] A water-dilutable paint stripping composition comprises: (a) chlorinated hydrocarbon, which may be methylene chloride or a mixture of methylene chloride and orthodichlorobenzene; (b) an organic acid which is preferably formic acid and, (c) an anionic emulsifying agent which is or includes a "long straight chain" organic sulphate which may be a mixture of long chain alcohol ether sulphate and an alkylphenol polyglycol ether sulphate. By a "long chain" compound is meant a compound which includes a straight chain of at least ten atoms which are either carbon or carbon and oxygen atoms. In the composition there may be incorporated a polyvinyl alcohol as stabilizer and dibutyl thiourea as corrosion inhibitor.
