Abstract

1,190,506. Selective printers. SIEMENS A.G. 31 July, 1968 [2 Aug., 1967; 13 May, 1968], No. 36459/68. Heading B6F. Aligning for impression.-In printers in which a type-carrier is moved to position a type and a single hammer effects impression, one or more tapered aligning extensions 3b, Fig. 7, or recesses 23a, Fig. 8, are provided to mate with corresponding recesses 2a or extensions 22a on a hammer 2, 22, respectively. Many types of mating recesses and extensions are described. Type-wheel machine; type wheels.-As shown in Fig. 1 eight annular rows of sixteen type 3 are resiliently mounted by circular springs 7 in slots in a hollow plastics cylinder 1, and a hammer 2 is mounted inside for striking a selected type. Type-frame machines.-As illustrated in Fig. 3, not shown, the type (13) may be mounted in vertical slots (18) in a flat plate 11 which is moved in two directions to position a selected type into position to be struck by the hammer. The type are rosiliently supported by a single long flexible spring cord (17) led over guide pins (19) in zig-zag fashion so that each type is supported on two centre lines. Adjustment for impression; type-surfaces.-By varying the height (3d), Fig. 6, not shown, of the type, or the total height of the type-carrier, an even impression is obtained for all characters with the hammer operating with a constant energy.
