Abstract
1,190,499. Electrical toy drive arrangement. W. RICHTER and E. RICHTER [trading as ERNST PAUL LEHMANN PATENTWERK], 27 Nov., 1968 [26 June, 1968], No. 56361/68. Heading A6S. A toy vehicle, particularly a toy locomotive, has an electric driving motor 8 and gearwheels 4, 5, 5', 6, 7, 39 and 39' which are assembled on a mounting block 2 supporting the motor 8 and forming a self contained housing 3 for the gear wheels and having a detachable side wall 14 integral with a detachable end Wall 17, the block 2 being insertable into the vehicle chassis 1. The gear housing 3 is enclosed top and bottom and one side and one end by walls of the box shaped container 12, and by a detachable side panel 14 integral with a detachable end panel 17. Panel 14 is secured with screws and panel 17 by a tab 19, insertable into a recess 20 of the wall 12 (see fig. 5). The circular collared end 29 of the motor 8 is inserted in a circular opening 30 in the detachable end wall 17 and meshes with gear wheel 7 which drives the wheels via gears 4, 5, 5', 6, 39 and 39'. Gears 4, 5 and 5' are mounted loosely on axles having one end fixed to wall 11, and the other insertable into holes in detachable wall 14, whereas gears 6 and 7 are fixed to their axles, which run in holes in walls 11 and 14. The other collared end 32 of the motor 8 is fixed by a retaining plate 33 attached by two screws (not shown), and the motor body rests in recess 27 of the block 2. The plate 33 carries soldering tabs and contacts to supply current to the motor from the pick ups. The motor is provided with an overload cutout to prevent damage, and the gear wheels are prevented from rubbing the sides 11 and 14 off the housing 3, by means of bosses such as 40 (fig. 5) and 41 (fig. 4).
