Abstract
1,190,411. Television pick-up tubes; printed circuit coils. ENGLISH ELECTRIC VALVE CO. Ltd. 17 Jan., 1968 [30 March, 1967], No. 14665/67. Headings H1D and H1P. A television or like camera tube has at least the line and frame deflector coil systems of the tube constituted by printed circuit coils which are bent round the envelope of the tube so as to constitute saddle coils. Each coil comprises a layer of rectangular turns having approximately the same conductor width as respects the pairs of opposite turn portions running in one direction but are of graded different conductor widths in the perpendicular direction, the widths decreasing from the innermost turn in an outward direction from turn to turn to obtain a cosine distribution of winding density. An image orthicon 1 having a gun 2, target 3 and photocathode 4 has interleaved line and frame deflector coils LF surrounded by an electrostatic screen 6 with a focusing coil system FS1 to FS8 also consisting of printed circuit coils. The focusing coil may alternatively be disposed within the line and frame deflector coil system (Fig. 7, not shown). Coils may be printed on both sides of a flexible insulating support, connections being made through the support.
