Abstract

1,189,903. Label dispensers; warehouse arrangements. F.M.C. CORP. 29 June, 1967 [10 Aug., 1966], No. 30070/67. Headings A4G and A4T. For speeding the collection of items from store, an operator carries a roll dispenser 10, Fig. 2, for a backing strip 16 carrying labels 15 the indicia on which can be viewed via lens 21 as the strip passes over guide 26, the labels being dispensed at 40 when the backing strip is pulled through its opening 30 at right angles to the guide. The indicia read through the lens directs the operator to the correct part of the store, and after selecting a quantity of an item as indicated on the label, the label is dispensed and attached to the quantity, the next label coming beneath the lens and indicating the sequential item to be selected. The labels may have "automatic read" symbols whereby, after selection, the items are placed on a conveyer, the symbols detected and the items distributed accordingly.
